Belated Post about Remix Revival

Somewhere around 2 1/2 months ago, remixrevival went live. I am just now getting around to posting about my fic because of Reasons. (Reasons being mostly work, and also weird brain things.)

So! I ended up writing two remix fics, one in a new-to-me fandom (Stargate Atlantis) and one in a perennial favorite (Elementary). I've been slowly making my way through the vastness of Stargate (I watched Atlantis first, after reading a bunch of fic as is my general pattern, and then I needed MOAR STARGATE so I bought all ten seasons of SG-1. I'm currently on season 5.) and offered only Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, figuring if I wanted to write one of my usual fandoms I'd just treat it. Which I then had time to do! So it all worked out.

For my assignment I received a very prolific Stargate author, mific, and had a wonderful time reading through their back catalog, and then a terrible time trying to narrow down what I wanted to remix of theirs. So many options! Going in so many different directions! With lots of different relationships! And options to remix both fic and art! For a while I was trying to something very experimental for me, gen teamfic with deaged characters and actual action-y plot; sadly, it was too far out of my comfort zone and fizzled, so then I turned to my tried and true fic-writing love: PWP. I ended up remixing mific's D.I.Y., in which Rodney called himself the "Einstein of masturbation," into:

Once that was turned in, I set my sights on Remix Madness. amindamazed/hophophop had put thrown their fic into the ring to be remixed, and I spent several fun hours going back through it trying to decide what I might like to take out for a spin. Eventually I couldn't resist upending their huddling for warmth/hypothermia fic Under the Circumstances into a hyperthermia fic, and so was born:

I had a lot of fun with the writing part of Remix Revival. On the other end of the exchange, I ended up going out to pinch hit, and then when the fics were revealed, I discovered that heyjupiter had taken my 150 word Pepper/Natasha vampire AU ficlet "And Turn" and expanded it into over 15k of vampire AU + high school AU (Twilight!AU, specifically) + undercover spy shenanigans. I was completely bowled over!

So all in all, a very successful Remix Revival.
