Fic: Heaven Locked Up In Her Bones

come_at_once  is a 24-hour porn challenge for all Holmesian fandoms. I've been aware of it, and wanted to sign up in the past, but somehow never did until this year. My first turn I ended up having to pass; I had an idea, I had the time, but I got a couple paragraphs in and became convinced that everything I wrote was garbage, and then suddenly I was out of time. (24 hours goes fast, in and around work and errands!)

My second turn came up yesterday, when I had even more time, but no ideas. So I paced my apartment filling the new bookcases I had just assembled, listening to Johnnyswim, because even though I couldn't see it working for any version of Holmes & Watson I could write, I do love their song "Heartbeats."

The difficulty, and it was the same difficulty with my first prompt, was that all my ideas seemed to require too many feeeeeeelings, and I kind of didn't want to write feelings. I wanted to write kinky porn!

And then I remembered that Sherlock now canonically has a sensory deprivation tank. And so I started googling what kind of kinky shenanigans he might get into with that, and ended up writing:

Feelings may have snuck in there on me anyway? And I didn't get to some of the actually-kinky bits I had planned on. But hey, it had a beginning, a middle, and an end, so I posted the thing last night at almost-3 am. I had some technical difficulties about halfway through the writing process -- my cable and internet both went out, and while I could just put on music as background noise in lieu of the TV, the lack of internet stymied me for about 20 minutes because I had been writing in Google Docs and couldn't figure out how to make it work offline. Finally I found a notepad program built into the laptop, and just copied and pasted, and by the time I had that ending the internet had been restored.

So I am declaring my first come_at_once  a success!
